Need a smarter persons help - Tick 93 f150 -video

Hey all
I have a 1993 F 150 2 wheel drive 5.0. I just put in new lifters because the ticking that I did hear sounded too shallow to be anything lower end and the lifters weren't in the best shape put the new ones in put everything together and I'm still getting a weird ticking noise. It does have headers so I'm thinking it may be an exhaust leak somebody mentioned but I'm new to all this so any help would be great. Here is a link to a video I just posted of it.

Please any thoughts would help........

That sounds eerily similar to a rod knock.

I would by a $10 mechanical gauge and install it to find out what oil psi is.

You can also pull plug wires one at a time to verify if it is a rod knock.

It's not really clacking, which would indicate lifters, but I'm not saying it isn't. It sounds more like a rod.

You think it sounds more like a rod bearing?

Sounds like a knock to me. Knocks are rod bearings, ticks are lifters and exhaust leaks.

Don't sound like rod bearing. A rod going out has a deeper clunking sound and at idle would not be as fast as that. What condition was the cam shaft? What condition were the rockers? Did you check for a stuck or stiff working rocker? I've had rods going out and they sounded deep and more of a clunking sound especially during a load.

Like I said, if a lifter or more is stuck it will make loud ticking or a bad valve. It sure sounds like a top end problem. You could pull the valve covers and listen and feel each rocker for looseness or not working properly. It don't cost anything to do a simple check Sure beats getting into the bottom end. I've had lifters go bad right out of the box, new. Could also be one or more lifters not getting enough oil to work right. A hydraulic lifter not getting enough oil will collapse and make lots of noise.Do you have something to check for sound like a stethoscope?

Seems way too "fast" at idle to be a rod, also agree it doesn't sound "deep" enough either. Sounds a lot like a lifter tap to me. Does not sound like an exhaust leak, either. Though I'll admit it can be difficult to diagnose sounds via recorded audio.

I have checked with a stethoscope and it doesn't seem to help funny enough. I had a set of exhaust gaskets and tightened them up. Went through and tightened the sparks, but noise persists. I checked the flexplate bolts and they were snug.... last thing to do is the valve covers again. It seems really tight on the passenger side as the intake slings over it but I will look tomorrow. Being that it is only 32 bucks should I just plan to replace the push rods since I did do the lifters?
