95 f350 4x4 conversion
I have had my 1995 F-350 Crew Cab Dually for around 20 years now and love the truck but when I moved up to Oregon I quickly found out that it does not fair well in the snow and ice and have been wanting to turn her into a 4x4. I just recently (yesterday) bought a 1995 F-350 Super Duty 4x4 Ext Cab.
Using a Vin Decoder I find this info
Recently Purchased
1995 Ford F-250 HD Supercab 155.0" WB 4WD
MFR model code X26
3.55 axle ratio
The one I have owned
1995 Ford F-350 Crew Cab 4dr 168.4" WB DRW
MFR model code W35
4.10 axle ratio
My first question would be why does the vin decode as a F-250 on the recently purchased rig? All the labels and paper work say F-350.
I bought this thinking I would have a ton of spare parts for my main rig. However, once I find out why it only clicks when I try to start it it may actually run. Suspect corrosion on a wire someplace is the cause of the clicking. Now in the case it does not run (bad motor maybe). Will all the 4x4 parts fit onto the one I have owned? Both are 460 autos's. Will this require any welding or custom items to be made like the driveshaft, brackets etc? Is it even possible to get taller gears for the front differential to match the 4:10's I have on the rear of the dually?

Yes you need to Fab up and weld spring hangers on the 2WD frame or buy a bolt on kit to hang leaf springs.
The steering box should be the same need to swap the 4WD steering linkage over to the 2WD.
Swap out the shock mounts in the front.
The 4WD trans has a shorter output for the transfer case so swap out the trans and transfer case as one unit in including the trans cross member,
If same wheel base swap out the drive shafts also.
As for gears I would go with the 4:10 my self.
The rear suspension the 4WD has taller bock between the axle and leaf springs so you need to also swap out the U bolts.
The 4WD has over load spring helpers mounted to the frame that should be transferred over also.
Take the floor mat out 4WD place on the floor of the 2WD so you know where to cut in to the floor to install the 4WD shifter.
If the 4WD has a light in the dash try to swap out the dash cluster also if you want to keep the correct Mileage swap out the speed O from 2WD to the 4WD dash cluster.
If the 4WD has tilt wheel Ect the steering columns can be swapped out also.

I was getting ready to do my F250 a 2WD to 4WD swap that's why I know this but the F250 have the Independent front end and I want the solid axle like the F350 has before I swap mine out.
Yes it be lot work but worth it in the end look up U-tube I seen a couple others that have done the swap.
The bolt in leaf spring swap kit is about $1500.00 if go that route.

Do a search here on converting 2WD to 4WD. It gets asked a bunch.
The biggest issue is front springs. 2WD uses coils, 4WD uses leafs. You'll need to fabricate mounting points for the leaf springs. Do-able, but not just a simple remove-and-replace.
You'll need to swap the trans from the 4WD to the dually (possible because they are both 460s). Most F-350 autos in '95 were E4OD, so that should be plug-and-play, unless one of them has a C6 3 speed which would make it a lot more complicated
Transfer case cross member from the 4WD will likely bolt right into the 2WD frame. If not, it's just a few holes to drill.
The front driveshaft from the SuperCab will likely work in the Crew Cab after it's converted to 4WD. Not the rear. You might be able to find the right rear driveshaft in a junk yard, or get a driveshaft shop to shorten the old one from the crew cab (or lengthen the one from the SuperCab).
Yes you can regear the front diff with 4.10s to match the rear. Guess around $1000 to have a shop do it. It can be done at home, but if you have to ask if you can then likely you shouldn't.
Keep in mind that dually and single wheels are different. Assuming that the 4WD is single wheel, then you'll need to carry 2 spares (if you want to have spares). Or you can convert the front axle with dually hubs or spacers to work with dually wheels. I guess there are good and bad ways to do that, so I'll just leave it as something for you to figure out.

Ford ETIS website shows it as an XLT. FordEtis home page
The issue now is that F250 HD has a Twin Traction Beam, TTB, front axle. Most likely it's a Dana 50. A real F350 4x4 has a monobeam Dana 60. So unless someone swapped in a solid front axle on the F250HD, I would not consider it as a donor.

The 4x4 conversion is a bolt on deal except for the front spring hangers. You need to box/weld the frame at the front with c channel or plate. Then a RSK can be bolted on for front hangers. That's it for fab work, the rest bolts on. Even the 4x4 dash light harness is under there and plugs right into the t case.
The dually in sig was bought new as a 2x.
