How to get rid of swirl marks in Pillars
#2
Subscribed.
I have a couple ideas.
1. Replace the factory lariat models and higher's b pillars with xlt pillars. Their pillars are not shiny, thus should not scratch/swirl as easy.
2. Have someone wrap them.
I haven't found a good way to fix mine yet. And yes, they swirl WAY to easy. They make a great looking truck look cheap because of this.

Does it? Maybe the XL's have them.
I haven't seen them from the factory, but I am going to go look this weekend. I saw a pic on another thread that made me think the XL or XLT's were flat black from the factory.
If that is not the case, throw option one out the window
Edit
Here is the thread. It is an XL model.

Meguiar's makes a plastic polishing compound. It's around 6 dollars a bottle. I've used it to restore my headlights on another car to brand new condition. It's called Meguiar's Plastic Cleaner/Polish, might be worth a shot.
The pillars on my truck still look mint, so I haven't had the need / desire to mess with them yet, but that's probably the approach I'll take when that changes.

Just like you'd get swirls out of paint, these will be softer than paint, however. The plastic polish is fine, as is any mild abrasive suitable for paint polishing. I agree the swirls really stand out. Especially on my white truck, which I chose specifically because it hides these types of blemishes.

I currently own a 2015 F150 and 2017 superduty. Both are xlt and have the gloss black pillars. I found that Meguiars ScratchX 2.0 works really well. It is a fine scratch and blemish remover for paint. It really works great on bug shields to.
