Detailing tips
I wanted to try a detailing tips thread.
I will start with a trick I use on the mirrors. As they are the size of a small car, they catch a lot of bug guts. So when I start washing I soak two rags and drape them over the mirrors. By the time I get around to drying the truck off, it only takes a few wipes and the mirrors are back to chrome. No where near as much scrubbing as when I tried cleaning them as I washed.

Tip from my well know detailer friend.
Optimum No Rinse
Clay Bar Towel
Optimum Spray Wax
If you have not used ONR (Optimum No Rinse) it is very easy. 2 cap fulls of ONR in a 5gal bucket + water.
Don't feel like typing our how to use... So here:
How To Use A Rinseless Wash, no rinse car wash, Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine, Detailer's Pro Series Rinseless Wash & Gloss, ONR
The trick to wash, clay bar and wax in easy.
Keep your clay bar towel soaking in your bucket with ONR.
Wash one section of your truck at a time (IE: the hood then fender etc) with ONR. Don't dry and immediately rub down with the clay towel using the ONR as lube. If it gets sticky add some more liquid from the bucket. Before you dry it spray with the wax and wipe it right off.
Gives you a quick wax job that takes less and 1hr to do on the SD.

The best glass cleaner ever invented is "Invisible Glass", available at most Auto parts stores. Some people talk about using 0000 steel wool with water, I haven't had the need to try that yet! DO NOT use steel wool less than 0000.

I use Shine Supply products for wheel cleaner, wash, detail spray and maintenance spray.
Of course, the two bucket method with grit guards.
I also use an open hose final rinse to 'sheet' off the water so there is less to dry.
As to glass, I have great results with the InvisibleGlass (Vinegar Windex works well too) and newspaper. Something about the newsprint makes the glass invisible.

The Invisible Glass does work pretty good...the 0000 steel wool is old school so I'd be careful using it.

the cleanest you can get ANY (outside) GLASS - is by using 0000 steel wool....wet the glass (window cleaner or soap/water work well) and rub the steelwool over the glass... re-wet it, and pass the wool over it one more time...then wipe dry and SPRAY wax it, buff it clean...youll be impressed how clean the glass is.
we run 1000+ miles in a day in our RV and get hammered with bugs....the fastest way to clean the windshield is using 0000 steel wool....the bugs come off FAST and the glass is super clean....in minutes and we're on our way in much shorter time!

this is true - but you DONT need to use new / fresh dryer sheets...save the old ones and use them (the old dryer sheets won't reduce your soap/bubbles as much either)
