p1211 driving me crazy!

- Just did the hutch mod and added a suction side Baldwin fuel filter, don't remember part#

- did all hpop and fuel bowl seals, hpop gasket

- New motorcraft icp and ipr

- Max hpop under load is around 2700 psi, 600 at idle.

- Fuel pressure steady 55 psi at idle, drops to 45 at wot

-no noticeable driveability issue... Just a bit sluggish but maybe that's just because it's stock- no tunes

-symptom seems to be ipr goes to 65% consistently whenever I hit the gas a little too hard or going up a grade on highway. Pressure seems to be good but ipr% slightly high when driving. Around 10-11% at idle.

Is this a sign of weak hpop? Truck has 150k.

Have you checked the wiring to the icp and ipr? There's a possibility its the hpop. Most stock trucks I've seen idle at 7.8-9% at idle.

1. Either that Baldwin pre-filter is a little too restrictive, or you're still getting air in the fuel. Your fuel PSI should not dip that low with stock injectors.

2. You might just have tired O-rings on your injectors. You can look up "Cody test" to find out if this is the case.

Are you running any tuning, chip or programmer? Are you able to monitor injection pulse width? No doubt you introduced air into the HPO system while working on it. How many miles since the repairs?

My fuel pressure is at ~64 psi while idling, and drops to the mid fifties under heavy throttle. I am running and FRx with the gold spring and I didn't put the fuel pressure gauge in until after it was installed so I don't know what the stock fuel system is supposed to run at.

I also run a baldwin pre-pump filter (BF1212) if that helps any.

no tunes, no chip, no programming, it's all stock. i have torque pro and the elm327 bluetooth adapter but i don't believe i'm able to use this to monitor injector pulse width. the mileage is at around 160k and still having the same p1211 issue. i finally got the courage to put my gopro in the valley to try and find leaks, and found this...

i've pulled all 8 injectors twice to fix leaking/cracked cups. the first time after installing i failed to pressure test the cooling system and didnt glue them in the right way. i replaced all the injector o-rings, hopefully i didn't damage them on reinstall..

i've had the hpop out before to do all the seals and new servicable plug/new ipr, replaced the hpop gasket and the lower hpop reservoir to front cover gasket (with the screen filter). the video looks to me like it's leaking from the hpop gasket. only thing i can think would cause this is if there was some dirt on the surface when i put the gasket on. i'll pull it again and put another gasket on to see.. could this also be due to something on the hpop itself? or maybe front cover cracked/warped? i hope this leak is the source of p1211 code

It's possible you have a crack in the HPOP housing that is leaking, but like you, gasket would be my first suspect. Of course you'll need to pull it either way to see.

The front cover being a powdered metal, I don't think it can warp, but if something odd happened, then some RTV carefully applied would take care of that.

OT...i cant remember but, the hpop is only held by the 95# torque needed, bolt..right? I "fixed" a plug on mine and she seeping again.

Negative, the drive gear is held on with that nut to that torque, the pump is held on with two or three or four bolts that are on the other side of the pump.

I took it all apart and found a tear in the gasket. Tried to reinstall with a new gasket and torque the mounting bolts to 18 ft/lb but only could get it to 15, then the bolt ripped out the threads.

So now I'll be drilling out the driver side hole in the front cover and installing e-z lok steel inserts. Hopefully this will make it stronger... Those aluminum threads have to withstand the 3000+ psi the hpop makes, probably explaining why this is such a common issue.

Do I just drill out the stripped hole, or should I go ahead and do both?

Damaged gasket

Just repair the bad hole. Drilling out the other one is asking for trouble.
