Cracked windshield. Aftermarket or original replacement?

Cracked windshield. Aftermarket or original replacement?
I have a cracked windshield. I have a very high deductible so I will likely be out of pocket for the repair.
I have a quote for an aftermarket windshield at a good price. Is the quality as good or should I go with an original from Ford?

In Florida, deductibles are waived on windshields as long as you have the requisite (comprehensive, or more properly, Other Than Collision) coverage.
Ford is known for making their own glass and doing a better job of it than say, PP&G..... Who isn't bad but, it's not Ford
In the future, look into have separate deductibles for collision and comprehensive.
Collision is usually the more expensive of the two and covers you for just what it says -- Collision (and upset)
Comprehensive covers you for (literally) other than collision and is usually quite a bit less expensive. So look into that it would cost to have, say a $500 or $1,000 deductible on collision (or more) and a $250 deductible (or less) on comprehensive.
The difference between the higher and lower deductibles on comprehensive can be surprisingly little.
My knowledge is dated and works in Florida only -- If at all. Mostly, ask questions. Without being adversarial.
If you have a 1-800 Insurance Company........ Sorry 'bout that

I took a rock at under 500 miles that quickly spread across the entire windshield. I did not even hesitate to contact my dealer and used their windshield installer that would use OEM glass ordered by my dealer. Once it came in, I was glad that I did because with lane guidance and rain sensing wipers, there are electrical connections on the glass. As previously mentioned, I also wanted the Sound insulation as advertised on the glass as well.

This thread is worth a quick read. OEM glass is better than aftermarket glass.

Go with Oem glass. Confirm that it says "Sound Screen" on the lower drivers side. I have had good luck having cracks filled by a local guy who is excellent at what he does, I hate the idea of breaking the factory seal.
About two weeks ago I took a rock to the windshield. I drove straight home, parked in the garage, threw a clean rag over the damage and let it sit until the glass guy arrived to repair it.
