Does anyone have an opinion on LMC parts. Previously worked on Mustang and used FOMOCO and fairlane classics for parts. Are they generally a god fit etc, good quality..

I have used there body parts, liked them. Had to do a little trimming but they worked well.

 

It's all relative. People complain about the fact they sell Chinese junk, but EVERYONE does. It's just a matter of who sells the least terrible stuff. I've gotten some great Tabco body panels from them, and some absolutely unacceptable panels, same with Dennis Carpenter though. Over the years I've kinda figured out what you order from whom.

 

LMC, Jeffs BroncoGraveyard, WildHorses, Dennis Carpenter... all are just fine. I buy stuff from all of them and have had the same good/bad experience with the bunch.

 

I bought a starter solenoid from LMC that dead-shorted through the body and left me with a dead battery.

I think I bought something else from LMC that was fine, but can't think of what it might have been. I look at LMC, but generally buy elsewhere.

 

I buy specialty parts that you can't get from your local parts houses from LMC, they have been just fine. For regular stuff like starters, solenoids, etc, I get them from my local parts houses. It's far easier to take a defective/wrong part right back to the parts house than contact online companies. I don't care if its a few bucks more, I need the parts houses there in the future!

 

First I try to buy from our sponsors, if possible.

Had some bad experience with LMC weatherstripping.

 

I've heard Dennis Carpenter weatherstripping is THE way to go. Confirmation anyone?

 

From a friend who tried DC belt weather stripping. No good on the first ones sent, weren't even finished poor quality control. They did send another set that was ok. No charge.
Same for Mac's 1st one NG second ok.

Used on 3 different trucks doors and both windshields, the fit was excellent.

 

We/body shop and windshield shop reinstalled all my glass with no problems on the weather stripping from LMC. The glass shop that reinstalled the front windshield (and I told them up front it was repo weather stripping) said it was the nicest piece they've ever seen.

I feel the repo stuff in some cases regardless of who you get it from can be hit or miss. I've also redone a '68 Firebird 400 about 3 years ago as well. Same thing. The repo stuff is hit or miss. In some cases one of the Firebird parts dealers actually gave you options in regards to quality. The nicer stuff you paid more for but at least they told you in the item description!

I installed LMC window seals around all my stationary glass. Works great with no leaks. I will say that they charge a fortune for shipping.

 

I have a bunch of new interior parts from LMC. As good as the originals. I got a replacement wiper switch from them that isn't even remotely close to being long enough to work. I think it depends greatly on what you buy from them. Body/interior stuff is good, functional parts maybe not so much.

 

Thanks... I have been looking at harder to find part and they seem to have a nice selection.. Right now I need the parking brake line. Looked at Broncograveyard but the part didnt look the same.

 

I used the Dennis Carpenter weatherstripping kit for doors:

• The door frame
• Door top
• The divider bar
• The anti rattlers
• The glass run

All of it was excellent, and several years later, still is perfect. Highly recommended
