What is this?

I have identified most things in the engine compartment, but what is this?
There is a vacuum hose hooked to it. Is it a sensor for vacuum? Is it used for cruise?

That is the switch that will turn on the red BRAKE light in the instrument cluster if the vacuum gets too low. Usually indicates that you have a vacuum leak in the system or that the vacuum pump is not creating enough vacuum for the system to use. Gets really fun when you hit the brakes and the pedal is stiff as it can be due to not enough vacuum for the vacuum booster.

Thanks. I thought it was something like that. Do you know the actual name of the part so I can find if needed?

Not sure on PN, but you can just unplug and bypass it.

It's just one of those useless safety feature things - useless because, if it's anything like mine, you can unplug the vacuum line and the light will stay off... for a few days before it finally registers no vacuum.

@macrobb...yeah it must not have been working anyway. I unplugged it and didn't get the brake light. I am thinking of putting on a vacuum gauge just to know if I have vacuum, and have a heads up if it is failing.
