New windshield time - anyone replaced theirs yet?

The OEM windshield has the Ford logo and some kind of marketing "windscreen" stamp. I think that's Ford's brand for their quiet windshield.

I could care less about the Ford logo, but I don't want to add any road noise. Has anyone replaced their windshield and have some advice?

Will be following this thread. Mine has a golf ball size whack just to the right of my line of vision. Happened last year coming home from MI..... I was told the difference between OEM and aftermarket was only ~ $100. I do know one thing for sure, Safelite will NOT touch it.

I had to get my windshield changed last year after only 6 weeks of ownership. An 18 wheeler threw a rock that hit so hard it instantly spilt the windshield in a star pattern the size of a tennis ball. The rock was so big that I actually saw it fly and hit my windshield. It hit so hard that I thought it was going to come through.

USAA arranged for Safelite to replace the windshield, and they made sure to replace it with an OEM glass that has the SoundScreen stamp on it.

We have USAA also. I'm not even going to call them since the deductible is $500, same as all the other deductible.

Typically, glass coverage is covered complete with no deductible. Might be worth re-reading your policy or calling the company and simply asking the question.

My deductible with USAA is $100, so that's all I had to pay.

USAA waives the deductible for windshield repairs, but if it can't be fixed and requires replacement, you have to pay the deductible.

USAA does not reduce the deductible for glass as many others do.

I really can't see paying the extra premiums for $100 deductible. I can't even remember the last time I had a claim.....

Twice now. I have used Safelite both times.

I used NOVUS for my driver's side front door glass which took a hit from a rock flying off a semi.

I am not sure what it is about this truck, but I have seriously never had a crack or even needed to replace a windshield in any previous vehicle I have ever owned. Nearly 30k miles with 16 months of ownership and I am on my 3rd windshield.

Plus numerous paint chips, even on my tailgate... how does that happen?

I have a few paint chips along the front edge of the hood. Part of the problem is the water based paints. They aren't as hard as the solvent based paints. Plus, the water based paints show more 'orange peel'.

I will most likely wait until I get ready to get rid of it before doing anything with the windshield.

Called my insurance and it turns out a $100 deductible covers my replacement. A ten minute phone conversation and I've got an appt next week. Nice.

Only in some states. Texas is NOT one of those.

Aren`t you taking a chance with getting a ticket for such a damaged windshield or are the laws different in TX.

Just wondering because here in GA, they`ll issue a ticket for such damage.
