Fuel pressure port

Is there a reason why the test port adapter cannot be left installed permanently? They all say temporary use only.

I think they are just covering their rear.

Mine is permanent, along w/ the hose and the sensor.

That makes sense, my main concern was that o-ring. Why did they not just use a copper washer?

I ordered Viton O-rings for mine. they are a little more durable.

I suppose O-rings are more appropriate for a component that may get installed and removed multiple times.

O-rings are a zero seating stress, pressure-energized seal. You don't have to tighten the bejeezus out of an o-ring fitting to make it work - once you go metal-to-metal, you are there. In an application like our filter housing (which I'm almost sure is aluminum), trying to seat a copper washer could result in a run on replacement housings and a boatload of unhappy 6.0 owners.
Back on topic, my adapter has been there a few months, along with the hose. One of these days the sender will get mounted to the end of the hose and I'll get my A pillar installed. One of these days - just not sure which one.

Doesn't the original plug use a copper or aluminum washer ?

That's what I have in mine. I had to find a Viton valve core for my Driven Diesel remote hose, it started leaking after a year or two.

Valve core for Schrader valve? For what that hose costs, I'd expect more than a year or two out of it. That's disappointing to hear. Guess I'll be on watch.

Care to share the sensor part number and other parts used? I am getting ready to have the blue spring mod done and adding this is also on the list.

Any suggestions for a mechanical gauge with long hose for temporary use?
