Get a triple disk torque convertor and with your 6.0 you should be good to go. I use Schaeffers All Trans fluid, I figure if the top trans builders use it, I will also.

+1 with what Glenn said.

I got a valve body already worked from Brian's Truck Stop but am sure there are other good sources too. It was set up for firmer shifts.

I think without opening up the trans, this is about all you can do?

That's what I figured guess if all goes well I'll be looking into a tc and a valve body

You should look into the tugger kit. I had one installed in my trans when it was rebuilt and I have had great results.

Well guys I finally found someone to trade my zf for a e4od got to drive his rig all seemed well also trans is supposed to be original with 114,000 miles well he dropped it off last night and picked up my stuff and this is what I was surprised to find definitely cleaner than my original was if I'd half to guess it's been rebuilt possibly

It's certainly not original. Ford does not paint torque converters.

When the trans was designed MERCON was the proper fluid. In 2006 Ford changed MERCON V to be compatible with the E4OD and 4R100 and discontinued MERCON. MERCON is no longer available. MERCON V is the correct fluid.
