Loosing coolant - EGR or Head gasket?

Hi, I have been adding coolant lately, how do I determine if the EGR is loosing coolant or the head gasket?

I remember seeing something on youtube about bubble in the reservoir.

Thanks.

Pull the EGR valve and see if it's damp, might help to park nose down for a little while first.

No, it's going in tomorow, hope it will be OK to start. I checked the oil, it is brown and no sign of any coolant, it is also at full mark. The oil cap is kleen as a whistle.

If/when you try to start with starter and assuming batts, connections good if it turns a little and just stops might have coolant in cylinders just so you know and need to pull glow plugs at that point.

Update: Just installed the starter and it started fine, a little bit of blue smoke, did not seem to smeel like coolant. I was probably low when I left it 5 months ago. I add 1/3 of a gallon and it showed up in the reservoir.

One thing, when I removed the reservoir cap, before I started it, there was some pressure left in the reservoir, even after 5 months sitting, what does this tells me, not loosing through the head?

Now next, why do I loose coolant?

If you still have pressure in the degas that is good. It means it must be an awfully slow leak somewhere.

Did you ever pull the EGR valve? If it's wet, then you know it's probably a EGR cooler issue, unless you are deleted but looks like you are not.

No, I am not deleted. I will pull this EGR valve and check it out. If it is the EGR, what is the newest trend on this, delete, OEM, or bullet proof?

Is it possible the hissing sound when you removed the cap fooled you and it was vacume instead of pressure?

I don't think, I am pretty sure it was pressure out.
