So my truck just started to lunge on me and thought I'd ask here first.. does it really badly and more going slower than faster but still does it just not as bad.. plus service engine light just came on today also.. any help would be fantastic as I'm new to the Diesel world!

The first thing to do is get the codes read. That SES light is a message that something is wrong. You can either get the codes read by a shop or read them yourself with an OBD-II/Bluetooth adapter, a $5 app called Torque Pro and an Android device.

I would not do anything else until you get the codes read. Don't drive it until you figure out what's going on.

Also post some details about the truck. Year, mileage, recent work, mods, etc. The more information you give th better.

Do you have a chip or program? Bad tuning can make the truck "buck" at moderate throttle under load, like going up a slight grade.

If you have a nasty knock under the hood, a loose injector can cause that, as well as some scary bucking. If an injector were this loose, you would likely see oil in your fuel. A black fuel filter is the tattle-tale here.

Possibly a loose uvch, (under valve cover harness). My experience was similar and the check engine light came on. Search .50 cent mod. This is just another option in conjunction with what has already been recommended.

Just know that most readers, especially the cheap parts store ones, are generally not able to read the codes on a powerstroke. It will just say "no codes present" or whatever. If that SES light is on, there are definitely codes, you just need the right reader.

First thing I would do is replace the CPS (crank position sensor). Use motorcraft sensors ONLY on a 7.3L. These trucks will not work well with aftermarket sensors. Then clear the codes and see if it solves the problem.

That sensor alone could be causing all of your driveability problems.

Would that also fix the cam position sensor circuit fault?

There is no cam position sensor. The crank position sensor is what it's complaining about. Codes mean different things on different vehicles, so that code might very well the fault when the cam position sensor goes out on a Ford Fiesta, but when you get it on a 7.3L, it's talking about the crank position sensor.

Were you dressed provocatively? Probably asking for it.
