Instead of fixing I broke 2 more thing

Hello,
My speedometer stopped working yesterday after i replaced the 2 cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. When i connected the the battery the horn started blasting and I went over tap the horn then it stopped. Then i noticed that the horn did not work anymore. I put back the original cruise control buttons and still did not work .So know instead of fixing the cruise control buttons, I broke the horn and the speedometer while the cruise control is still broken. I checked the fuses and they all are good. What can it be ?

I know the feeling. I went over my battery connections amd a couple grounds to clean things up a little and now my extra fuse panel is loosing power periodically. Tracking down electrical problems is a never ending project.

Similar situation happened to me with my speedometer, however I lost my gauges as well when we were on a road trip to Virginia, battery went dead and needed AAA to give me a jump. When we hit the road I had no spedo, gas gauge ect. Drove home with out them using my Garmin as spedo. My mechanic told me to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and the reconnect it, it WORKED. You might not have done anything during your repair it might just be that system needs a reset. Its worth a try. Good luck
