Discovered an Oil Leak

While changing the oil this weekend I rechecked an area I noticed a slight film of oil starting during the last oil change, and sure enough it's gotten quite a bit worse the past 7,000 miles and 8 months. The leak is on the lower left front section of the motor, and is weeping out of what looks like the upper oil pan. Fortunately the truck is still under warranty, but is this job going to require a cab off repair? Either way, I think I'm going to wait until my next oil change this fall since I just dumped 13 quarts of synthetic in there. Below is a pic.

As I suspected, it's the upper oil pan gasket. I took the truck to the dealer last night and got an update this morning that it is indeed leaking from there. The good news is they said they can have it fixed by tomorrow afternoon, so I'm guessing they either don't have to pull the cab and motor for this job or some tech's schedule just got booked solid for two days straight.

My truck is in the shop right now for the upper oil pan gasket repair.

I was told they can repair it by pulling the cab or just working from below. They have to separate the transmission housing from the engine to get all of the upper pan bolts. They will probably pull the cab.

I will keep my eyes on their progress this week to see which way they go.

My truck is 1/2 way through the repair process. The entire truck is on the lift. They did not pull the cab.

My local dealership has just one diesel mechanic. Diesel repairs get serialized. The repair in front of my truck was an upper oil pan seal too.

How many 6.7 upper oil pan seals are faulty? I have not seen many threads on this forum about oil leaks on the 6.7.

My 2016 just started leaking with 22k on the clock. Also discovered while changing oil, waiting until it's due for an oil change to take it in. Good to know it doesn't seem to be a cab-off repair!

My truck is right at 21.7k. There were 2 leaks. One on the upper pan, and a leak on the passenger side valve cover. Both repairs were done without pulling the cab. I almost got the truck back on Friday, but they only had 1 injector seal in stock. Monday they will finish the job, but I will not be back home to truck until Saturday.

My 15 has a slight leak on the upper pan as well. It leaked from about 20k but was so slight it was hard to notice. It's at 50k now, prob take it back in for it as the first time they claimed they couldn't find anything wrong, it has gotten slightly worse since then.

My truck is done. I am on the east coast and my truck is on West Coast. I will see it on Saturday. Looking forward to get the summary of where leaks were found and sealed.

This makes me hesitant about deleting this winter. I've got 23k miles on mine now, about the time y'all see leaks showing up.

After reading this thread I took a peak at my 2016 F250 while changing the oil at 10k miles. I have the same leak.

The front of the engine is at the top of the image (lying on the ground looking straight up at the oil pan) drivers side of pan.

@ 5000 miles I changed the factory oil to Valvoline 5w40 synthetic. I did not look at this area during that oil change so not sure how long it's been leaking.

If it's going to leak, it'll do it synthetic or not if that's what you were thinking.
