SYNC 3 2.2 Update Finally released by Ford
Hey boys and girls,
I`m not sure if this applies to everyone but I received an early Christmas present from Ford this morning.
On the Ford Owner website, it shows that the 2.2 update has been "officially" released for Ford vehicles and it`s ready for download.
The only bad part is that it can`t be downloaded via OTA.
It says that it must be done via USB stick and it must be empty, be able to hold 32GB of data, is "not" password protected, and is formatted to " FAT32".
They didn`t say if this applies to NAV or non Nav vehicles but I have NAV so maybe they check via the VIN#.
Hope this helps you guys.

mine said it was successful, restarted, came up to the hvac controls (that partially worked) even though my previous version didn't have hvac controls...then it came up and said the update failed...tried again and it says not enough space...so I gave up for the night...the old 1.0 version is still there...

I did start out with a cleaned and formatted 32g flash drive. You want nothing else on the flash drive.
It took longer to download to the computer, unzip file and transfer to flash drive than it did to load into sync.
After I got the screen that showed download was complete and that the install would complete at restart of vehicle, I turned everything off and got out of the vehicle and shut and locked the doors.
After about 2 minutes I got back in the truck and started it. I got the info of an update done. It did take about 5 minutes before the navigation came online.
I'll work on the car play tomorrow.

I'm running iOS devices and nothing unzips correctly. I tried 4-5 different configurations and nothing took. Truck idled in the driveway for over an hour and I'm sure my neighbors loved listening to the horn blow twice each time I ran inside to reformat the USB and try again. Why Stync can't unpack its own zip file is beyond me.
I'm over it...and since I'd have to buy a hardware update for Apple play, I could care less now.

Hey guys,
I haven`t downloaded anything yet because I didn`t have time to go out and purchase a new USB stick yesterday. I want to make sure it`s totally clean and free of anything except for this download.
Hopefully all goes well with the download from my iMac.
I hope I don`t have any of the issues that some of you see to be having but i`ll let you know if I run into any problems.
Have a great day and week.
