TRUCK WON'T STAY RUNNING!

Just bought a 1983 Ford F250, 7.0, manual, dual tank, carbureted, manual fuel pump...

Truck has set lonesome for the last six months, put a new battery in her, filled the gas tanks and replaced the fuel filter.

Truck turns over strong, fires... Then shuts off after 5-10 seconds. Bogs down under throttle.
I double checked the prime on the carb, checked spark ok.

During cranking/firing the ignition coil turned damn near red hot!!!
So, yeah here we are. Any suggestions?

Define bogs down under throttle. Has the motor been built?

If coil is heating up - i would start there. Are you running the Duraspark ignition module (or some aftermarket setup)? What is the voltage to the coil when running?
