Adding Adaptive Cruise later?

I have an 16 F150 EB Platinum loaded. Considering selling it for a 17 SD - one of the features on my F150 that a love is the Adaptive Cruise. It's pretty incredible - and I would imagine even more so when towing. Most of the 17 SD's I'm seeing out there do not have it (looking at Lariats). I'm guessing you could not add it after the fact, or have it be a dealer installed option?

Anything is possible, but you'd need the radar bubble that mounts in the bumper, the harness, additional programming, and any other hardware that might be needed. Probably be a very expensive add-on, and dealer techs are usually not good at these type of requests. They give you a blank stare when you ask them about retrofitting options, even though it can be done.

No dealer I can think of would touch it. You're much better off ordering one with it. Like Troverman said, anything is possible, I just wouldn't want to pay the bill.

Adaptive cruise is a great option. I did not think I would like it but ordered it anyway and I really like it.

Only downside is that you can get stuck behind slower traffic if you don't pay attention to how fast you are going once the truck slows down behind a slower driver.

The other downside is that is wears your brakes down faster. And it can lull you into complacency. But it definitely can be nice in some traffic situations.

It can be done on the 150s. Not sure on the Super Duty trucks yet. Check this out:

That's a great find, Josh. Sounds much cheaper than I thought.

My dealer said they would not even attempt this. They screwed up my first truck by not having it and when asked to install it got a very firm no

The truck he is talking about on powerstroke army is mine (my id on the army is 12stroker) we are going to add it to it. We will post more about it once all the parts come in and installed. You will need ids for a few of the procedures but will make a thread here once it's complete. He successfully added it to his f150 so should be possible for our trucks since alot of the times are inter changeable.

I think there is a guy on the 150 forum that has done this. I think it was $520 or so when he was done. Ecoboost Morgan is the name.

If that's the case, then you probably shouldn't be using adaptive cruise. If anything, you need to be more alert when using it than you normally would be.

Knowing that the truck cannot come to a full stop in traffic has me very leary of using it in stop and go traffic.
