89 F350 Fun Ton Plow Truck Turbo 460 FiTech

Hi guys, I'm in the process of turning this truck into a do-all beast. Going to try to retain low end torque and fuel economy and use the turbo more as a supercharger to accent the top end.

Budget turbo builds are a lot of fun for me, this will be my 7th turbo build, 2nd turbo build using a FiTech. Here are a couple links from previous builds:

Here's the truck...

Here's where i'm at now...

Transfer case is probably an np208 and rear is a ford/sterling 10.25.
That's what stock would be.

Thank you sir. It should be all stock except it was originally a 351w efi c6 truck.

Good to hear from you again.

That year used the same transfer case and rear axle no matter what engine it had.
There should be a little round tag on the back of it. Newer transfer cases were 1356, and a little different. I think you could get the 1356 with a pto, is the biggest difference. I don't remember.

If you keep that rear, and the cover is rusted out, look up the 08 aluminum finned diff cover. It's typically only $50 on eBay.

I'm ready to see this project take shape!

How did you keep the bumper straight? I see many of these with plows and the bumper is either crooked or bent to fit.

Personally, I think it's taking pride in your work...
Yeah, it may take a little longer to get it right, but it won't look stupid.
And possibly, the other you've seen, got ran into something and bent it.

t case - likely a 1356 in this year. very good design but for potential of pick up tube coming loose, even so i ran one for months on just a cap full of oil by accident

1356 with pto plate: tonners with duals, or sno package, kinda scarce now.

1345 till '87
1356 till early '90's then onward
208: mostly gm and lighter rigs
the bw 4407
then 271 the monster but pump wears thru case

i follow your work closely am always impressed . this fitech is a surprise after your deep commitment to mechanical over electronic builds in the past. the little ford is my favorite! its my go to reference for my rig.

Early to mid/late 80s had np208
Early 90s had 1356....
Late 80s is where the transition was, and I'm not sure when it changed. I know my 87 has an np208 and my 92 has a 1356... I'll have to look on my 90, because I can't remember.

It's a shame I already bought the Dorman part. I would have bought this one instead if I had known.

sdiesel, efi makes me nervous as hell lol! But after working with the FiTech v6 tbird and most people around here wanting efi now, I figured I would crawl out from under my rock.

Also, it's our third vehicle so just in case the wifey needs to use it...

yes to 1356. excellent unit c6 in front of it?
i have easily passed the million mile mark with that combo in a number of trucks, great stuff when gas was under 2/gallon
does it have pto plate?

since i have your ear let ask you something please.
On the 6 project, You mentioned you would be really content with the windsor turbo'ed in a daily driven pick up.

i have a fresh built 6 in a tonner dually4x witth a 5 speed.
using your build design theory can my 6 , how do i ask this,, , can it provide satisfactory, daily, working power, using the remote turbo, the lunatti and so on.

i like how you held timing and manipulated boost- very sensical. for that engine.
the working power part, i cant really put to words rightly.
but i mean a broad, reliable, torque curve and start-every-day reliability.
this should be a p.m. sorry fellas, but his answer is useful to more than just me.
