sync 3 traffic/ford pass

Anyone have any issue with the traffic in the nav? My nav doesn't display any traffic information. Pressing "traffic list" in the nav or the sirius app shows a box that says it's getting data, but then the box disappears and nothing happens. I checked and all the subscriptions to Sirius are active.

The ford pass app on my phone only seems to provide some vehicle health info. Is that all it does?

That is all fordpass does on the trucks, Ford didn't install the required modem to do anything else. You can buy that modem through ford accessories, but then I think you'll have to get the dealer to activate it at a cost. Also you also open the truck up for possible hacking.

The lack of traffic data is a known defect at Ford. The dealer says they are working on a resolution. The issue is a faulty antenna and I would bet your Sirius radio also pauses a lot "acquiring signal". Hopefully they fix this soon.

That's interesting. I assume the modem is what provides the ability to give wifi internet for the vehicle occupants? I can just use my cell phone tethering for that.

I drove the truck about 500 miles since I've had it and had Sirius on most of the time (I have it in my other car) and it never cut out once on me, so that can't be it.

I wish I had better news for you. I tried all the settings, then let every salesperson the dealership had work on it. All of them said "I know how to fix that", but they couldn't. Finally, the dealership had their local electronics expert come in to troubleshoot and he told me personally it is a known issue. He was able to locate the defect number. He said the traffic uses a different antenna (but who knows?). All I know is the traffic hasn't worked since Day 1. My radio also "reacquires data" constantly so I guessed that might be happening to yours. I've only had Sirius/XM on a dozen or more automobiles and this is the first one to not work correctly.

If you figure it out, let us know. I reall miss the traffic and wouldn't pay for the music otherwise because I already have a small fortune invested in my playlists. I know I can use the google maps with SYNC, but as soon as I receive a call, it disappears from the screen. In Dallas/Fort Worth, traffic data is the difference between getting there on time or being jammed up for a couple of unexpected hours.

Good luck.

My Sirius cuts out and gets the 'acquiring signal' message from time to time, but that's because I'm driving under a canopy of trees here in New England. Pretty much standard on all the rigs I've had with Sat Radio.

The Sirius apps seem to work fine for me - weather map, fuel prices, etc.

All the apps work for me, too. Just not the traffic.

Same here says Aquiring traffic data may take a minute....and nothing. I have been trying this since I got the truck.

Another Ford Flaw,....they are really pilling up.

Fuel tank.
Traffic Nav.
Ford pass not updating
Radio just blacks out while driving.

Glad I came across this post.....I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure why there is no NAV traffic. I have had Sirius resend the signal 3 times with no luck. Do you think this will be a recall item?

I too tried 3 times on the re-sync from Sirius. That's what caused me to drive into the dealership.

The stereo specialist said they wont know the fix until FORD sends out an update. He did say the notice he found listed the antenna as the culprit.

I wonder if there is an after market antenna available? I have a feeling it will take forever for Ford to correct the problem.

Any updates on this? Driving in Northern VA, being able to know about traffic conditions is pretty critical.

I asked about an update yesterday while at the dealership getting the rear seat belt replaced. No update yet from Ford for a resolution. Even worse, the service rep thought it would likely take 6 months before it would be resolved. Definitely not cool!

IMO, if they have some trucks working and some which don't, simple troubleshooting should yield a known cause thus resulting in a fix. Maybe a week tops from my perspective should be acceptable. 6 months is ridiculous.

It takes them at least six months just to build the truck. Why would it get fixed any sooner?

My friend and I were talking, that it could maybe be an antenna ground problem with the new aluminum bodies. Same issue we will have with our Ham radio antennas. The sirius signal is low power so the ground is critical.
