SuperCab 4x4 Resto-Mod Cummins Swap Build

Well, I've been wanting to do this for years. Take an old Ford, do a frame off restoration, and swap in a late-model powertrain including a 12V Cummins.

I will be documenting every step along the way, so I hope you guys have fun viewing my progress. Yes there will be PLENTY of pictures.

First, I'll start with my truck that I purchased solely for the purpose of this project.

1978 F-150 SuperCab 4x4, converted to an F-250
351M (to be replaced with a 5.9L 12-valve Cummins)
NP 435 4-speed manual (to be replaced with NV4500 5-speed)

Here are the "before" pictures, just as I bought her.

And here is the donor truck that will be giving up it's Cummins engine, a 1994 Ram 2500 2wd. The Ram is an auto, so the 5-speed manual transmission will have to come from elsewhere.

Engine Pull

I have limited space in my garage, so I decided to pull the Cummins first before I start tearing down the Ford.

Overall in great condition. Dirty, but no leaks. Ran great too.

Finally Out, time to tear it down!

Thanks. I'm about 5k away from done. Well, done my overly **** overkill way.

Either way good luck with your swap. I'd keep that donor till the last min to make darn sure you don't need anything out of that truck.

Did they just swap the 8 lug front spindles or the complete front axle? And yes I am sure it was a complete rear axle swap.

co425 if the answer man on this subject for sure.

Once you get the NV4500 5-speed, will it bolt up to the NP-205?
