Here is one for ya! 6.2 engine problems

Good friend of mine (mechanic)and ford F150 truck owner told me today that the 6.2 engines are starting to have engine failures. He told me he spoke to local ford dealer mechanics and they now have 3 fords(6.2 engines)in shop with bad engines.I say BS.I have not heard of any catastrophic failures.

I'm going to remain neutral about this one, but ... for all we know, without looking at the engines in question, the same oil-change guy at the dealer didn't do it right (or used the wrong oil), they were all tuned and the guys over-revved them, or some other problem occurred.

I think we would have heard about any catastrophic failures by now, unless it's brand-new vehicles and they are being VERY WELL taken care of by Ford or the dealer

I got about 25K on mine.... I do clean filters & Change oil frequently plus blow out radiator... But I thrash it hard (by some people's standards) - Idle it like a diesel ( it's hot here & the lab is usually in the back seat), Tow pretty heavy - plus Texas is in a drouth and it's dusty as heck in a lot of the areas that I am in...

No problems with the 6.2 (Knock on wood)!

Im not sure if there is a dummy light come on or if you just have to check the trans temp from time to time on the lcd screen.........

I don't know yet if this is relevant yet but yesterday my 2011 raptor with 6.2 shut down shortly after start up. The info screen said low oil pressure. I was able to get it to run long enough to get it backed into the drive. I checked all the vitals everyting checks ok. They are coming to get it this morning . I will keep u posted....

6.2 oil pump failures

My company has 15 F 250's with 6.2's. So far we have 5 oil pump failures at about 100,000 miles. We are using NAPA GOLD filters and L-606-SB AERO FLOW 5W-20. Oil is changed every 5000 miles. Is anyone experiencing similar problems? Any ideas? Possible defective oil pumps??

I haven't seen or read about any influx of oil pump failures, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be an issue. It is ironic that they're all failing at similar intervals.

Plus, wtih company trucks, there's no tellin' what kind of abuse the trucks are subjected to, even with the frequency of the oil changes. Just sayin'...

Welcome to FTE btw!

We used to use the Ford vans with a different engine. They were still running fine when we switched to the trucks. Some of them had 450,000 miles with no major engine problems.

My son in law has a Raptor pickup with the 6.2 engine, and he is a hard guy on trucks, he does not believe in gentle driving, or showing any vehicle mercy. He has had zero issues, and that is a rarity for him. His previous truck was a GMC that had numerous serious failures, so this truck surviving fine is a tribute to the strength of it in my opinion.

12,500 miles on my 2012 F350 XL and it has been great. I had my truck in the shop for a few things and while it was there I mentioned that it shifted funny sometimes. They reflashed the computer and it drives much better (especially in tow mode). 75% of the time I'm hauling my 6x10 enclosed trailer with Walker Mower, push mower, blower, weed whackers, fuel, tool box with a couple hundred lbs of tools.....
It has always worked hard and it is a joy to drive.
