Good afternoon MN. Looks like things are as usual here.
Cory wants to be paid to camp
Jay still doing house projects
Troy is ready for beer
and Dave is still trying to melt the weight away down south. LOL
Busy out east for me. We did camp for the 4th of July week. That was great to get away.
Had to replace our pool. The ice destroyed it. It is a 28' round pool that I put a deep end into it, ramps down an extra 2' on one side. We had it like that for around 5 years. I think what happened is we got a bunch of snow in the fall and it never got really cold so the weight of the snow through the winter and lack of normal ice thickness allowed the snow weight to push the ice down on the deep end acted like an iceburg getting ready to roll. pushed the sides out and ripped the liner. Our friends decided to get rid of their pool this year and was the brand and size as ours. So we took it down and I spent most of May and June screwing putting that back up. All good now, was up to 84F on Saturday.
Been busy trying to keep vehicles on the road. Yesterday I changed the ignition coils and plugs on the ford five hundred. Was getting a code or P0303 misfire. It was stumbling at times under light throttle. Wasn't a bad job to do and seems to have fixed it. Find out after the wife beats it for a few days. Glad Rock Auto had the coils, they were were around $38 each compared to local dealer that wanted $65+ each. Both are motocraft. So it was $250 plus, including plugs, compared to what would have been $450.
Trying to get my 03 focus zx5 inspected. Vermont is friggin ridiculous. They only want new cars on the road. I repaired a little rust hole under it and damn it has been a PITA to try and get it inspected the way the morons wrote the requirements. I have a lot of time and money sunk into it with all the other stuff also. New windshield, headlights, tie rod ends, left front control arm, front left wheel bearing, partial rear brake line, valve cover gasket, and rear bumper. Fortunately I am able to do the work myself or I would be probably $1200 in the hole. Find out this afternoon if I can get it stickered for the next friggin 12 months before doing the BS all over again.
The transmission on the excursion is acting up, or maybe torque converter. Sometimes in the morning I will back up from the parking spot, put in drive and it will be like in neutral for a 30 seconds of so before it engages. Pulling hills around corners it will down shift the shift up again and sometimes pulling out onto a road with skinny pedal applied the rpms will rise by not the speed like it should. Fluid doesn't smell burnt but I need to stop at a guy's shop and have him smell it. This was happening before we went camping. Pulled our TT which is probably 8000lb loaded plus the excursion with that loaded and the transmission didn't act up at all. But the power steering cooler line rust through so I did end up repairing that while at the camp site. Some rubber line, 4 clamps and a hacksaw got that one done.
