A few of us have added O rings to the boots to keep any moisture and some dirt out of the wells, ID=13/16", OD=15/16", Width=1/16" will fit like they were made for the job. A coat of dielectric grease (since you have it out anyway for the spring ends) adds to their sealing abilities.
Factory spark plug torque spec is 14/17 ft/lbs, I cranked mine to 30 ft/lbs with a light coat of never-seize on the threads and seat.
The GearWrench 80546 5/8" X 6" swivel socket makes the plug job a little easier.
These O-rings you speak of. Exactly where do they go? First time hearing of their use. Just picked up a 2nd Ex and will be doing spark plugs & coils soon.

See the double ridge where the helpful leaf is pointing?
That is where the O-ring fits.
You could RTV the O-ring there and then goop some dielectric grease around it.

This is what a coil looks like after a spark plug violently ejects. The departure force easily snaps off the coil hold down bolt ear.

When I did mine the O rings fit the boots pretty snugly, I just installed them with that fit and gave them a coat of dielectric grease. In another 35K miles or so I guess I'll see how they held up.
