I did this swap on my Bronco a while back I used the chevy 8 lug d44 knuckles out.Thats outer stub shaft, knuckles, spindles, caliper braket, hub and rotors.I went this route because chevy stuff was plentiful and I could clear 15' wheeles if I wanted. Ball joint parts numbers are the same for 79 f150,f250 and chevy d44 and 10 bolt. Watch out for differ bearing sizes when swaping spindles I know chevy has a big bearing spindle and a small spindle and I think 79 f250 spindles are a big bearing. I would get the whole knuckles out on a donar axle and just swap them out.
Whew....so 79 F-250 dana 44 knuckles out is the deal or chevy 8 lug stuff, knuckles out. I need to get a manual on all these dana 44's. Thanks for the info everybody.
finished the swap on the bronco a couple weeks ago.. used the spindles, rotors, dual piston calipers, caliper brackets, hubs, brake lines, and new bearings for the donor vehical..all from a 91 F250 ttb front axle.. the rear axle came from a 79 4X2 pickup..heard the chevy stuff will work and with a little grinding the 15" rims fit.. just made my life easier and went with 16.5 aluminums..
ya if you make sure its the dana 50 ttb and not the odd dana 51 or a 44 hd ttb...the tag on the front axle should help with that... the 44hd ttb parts may work i just don't know didn't use it....and i'd look for the 6 screw hubs instead of the 3 screw that came on some axles....more clamping force..or use the ones off your current truck...
