Why don't you swap in a Cummins? Cheaper than a whole new truck, and there be nothin' else on the road like the Ex!!
I've looked into it and the tricky part is findin a good cummin they recomend buying a dodge for parts. theres a website called DESTROKED: Cummins Conversions that basically has every part needed to do it but im left with these question.. do i rele wanna spend all this and still not have a warrenty?

$3800 just for an ECM and you still gotta buy the engine forget it... Cummins are not great
Actually there are a number of Cummins powered Excursions on the road. You can see a few on YouTube even.
I know, my point was that there is not another vehicle like the Excursion on the road. So, transplanting engines forever is a righteous thing to do. I am going to try and do that, money willing!!

Well get it fixed. A cummins can do the same thing. Glow plugs?
I have been researching this for several months.....the Dodge Common Rail is what I will go with here. To redo/upgrade my 6.0, to make it a happy camper, and since SEVERAL have been done, kits are available, it actually comes out dollar for dollar the same. I am aware the 6.0 CAN be a monster if its done RIGHT! However, I can, in the next 6 to 12 months, buy everything, paint it, wire it, and when I'm ready, throw it in.
Now, if I was smart, I would actually just sell my 04 and get a Ex with a 7.3 and LOW miles. I only have 80k now on my Ex and get great gas mileage, if I inflate my foot with Helium.
