Just wondering if there is a downfall to un-connecting the red line to the wg??? I un-connected mine and seems to boost higher than before, connected I have seen around 22 and with it un-connected I hit 25 and let off the go peddle cause I didn't want to break her.
25 is okay, but I wouldn't push it any higher than that. You can also get surge. I was getting up to 28 or so psi, but it was surging badly. The thing is that it seemed so much better with out the wastegate, I wanted to keep it disconnected. That's why I put in the Wicked Wheel. Reduced the boost somewhat (I now max out right at 25), cured my surge (not even a hint of it now), and I have a very cool whistle.
In other words, if you think you want to keep it disconnected, you can, but you have to watch the boost and listen for surge. Or get a WW and be done with it...
Some people on here run with the red line disconected all the time. I was at around 20# boost with my superchip. I went to DP-TUNER and can hit 30 +#. Your truck starts defueling around 22-23# boost, going to 25 is as much as our stock turbo wants to see. I tried to run with red line pluged, but way to much surge, so put it back on.
BTW Think about the DP-TUNER, I am so glad I did. I did keep the superchip to read codes. Have fun.
i've also noticed my egt temps rise faster, but that goes hand in hand with the boost numbers. i think i'll plug her back in till i purchase a ww. thanks for the info!!
I disconnected the wastegate line and also shortened the actuator rod to increase tension. But with the ATS turbine housing installed, there is no compressor surge at all.
I put at least 600 miles a week on my truck, and when i removed the redline my fuel mileage died. Hooked it back up and picked up 5 mpg. It has much more power w/out it, and sounds awsome, but not worth it for me considering the amount of miles i put on my truck.
