Here is the delima:
Yesterday I driving home and the clutch decided that it wanted to go almost all the way to the floor before engaging. I drove it little today and my dad and I jacked it up to look at the pressure plate (kind of) and see if there was an adjust for the clutch. Upon looking and scratching our heads, I pushed the clutch down and it was back up to where it is supposed to be. I have not driven it, but I have started it and it stayed up like it should. The clutch pedal is not "falling" to the floor on its own. It just had a lot of play in it. If anyone has any idea what is going on, please let me know.
I would say the clutch master cylinder is goin' south on ya'. It's a PITA to work on but it can be done. I did mine abou tthis time last year, twice. I don't want to have to do it again if at all possible. Make sure you have a friend to help and a bench vise to aid you in replacing it. Also a quick disconnect tool for the hydraulic line could be useful as well.
BTW, check to see what the fluid level is in your clutch fluid resevoir. Should be located on the firewall near the brake vacuum booster. If it is low you might have a slow leak somewhere. Fill it, drive it and see if it does the same thing. If it does then look into replacing the clutch master cylinder.
Check the fluid level in the clutch reservoir. It should be about up to the step. You might have to take out the rubber "tulip" to get an accurate read on the level.
