just bought the truck a two months ago. its a 2024 f250 xl crew cab long bed 6.8l 10r100. I drove it to 1700 miles it is a work truck. after 1000 miles I started towing with it (after break in). I have a junk removal/hauling business so I tow a dump trailer regularly, average weight is 5k-14000k. first it started out as a slight slipping feeling from 1st-2nd gear. then it started getting real jumpy while towing mainly in 1-2nd gear only. took it in to the dealer. after the back and forth (we cant duplicate the issue) I was able to make it down there and replicate the issue over and over. long story short after (software update, relearning the tranny, and "accelerated clutch pack break in"). all smoking mirrors. come to find out it needs a new transmission. this is a super let down because I use this truck for my business I'm a small business as well so I need this truck. I'm paying 860.00 a month for a truck that's been in the shop for almost 2 weeks now. plus my business is at a stand still. they said they are going to get a new transmission and I could pick the truck up and drive it until the trans comes in for replacement. how ever I don't want the thing to blow up while I'm trying to tow my trailer with a hug load in it. what do yall think i should do?

Rent a truck and get back to work. Neither Ford or the dealer is going to approve paying for an equally capable rental or loaner when they've offered you your truck back for the meantime.
I understand your frustration though. I kicked my 2024 6.8L down the road because the transmission would buck and surge in certain gears while coasting. Brought it to dealer many times and could easily replicate the issue. Nothing beyond a reflash was approved under warranty because no codes or leaks were present. After a little more than 13,000 miles I just sold it.
From my experience owning both the 10r100 and 6R100, its something with the 100 series line of transmissions. My 2022 with the 6R100 has the same behaviors and ill be selling that as soon as my replacement truck comes in.
Growing pains of business and having a what if plan. Unfortunately many a well meaning business have been done in by the unseen. I would see how long before transmission comes in and 'if' the dealership will get on it right away after it arrives.
If your business is a contract with places then you might have to find a place that might rent trucks even at a loss to retain contracts. Or look for maybe an older truck that can be a backup. A 6.2 would of been my choice. 7.3 now with heavier duty transmission would really be my choice.
I would keep driving the truck to keep your business going and income coming in. I wouldn't do huge loads of 14K even if that meant 2 trips at 7k instead of 1 trip. I would have a contingency plan with a suitable truck, or other means, in case the transmission bit the dust while hauling a load. Keep it working as long as you can while being as easy on it as you can. I assume the dealer's service department doesn't think it is likely to blow up anytime soon or they would not have suggested you could take the truck. For now, it is a drivability issue. If I felt it was getting worse, that is when I would park it.

I forgot to add also. I would drive the the truck till the transmission died a miserable death. Dealer said to use it.

Do you know for SURE what your weights are in that trailer? And is that total weight of the trailer plus load, or just what's being put in the trailer?
I ask because the MAX rating for the 6.8 for towing is 14,800, and as we all know there's a special configuration you probably have to have to get that...and usually a crew cab truck isn't going to get you there. Still, if your load is 14k TOTAL then you are almost at max towing capacity for your truck. If it's 14k IN THE TRAILER, and your trailer probably weighs in at another 5-6k since it is a dump trailer, then you're looking at 19-20k which is WELL BEYOND your rated towing capacity.
Either way, it sounds like what you really need is either a 7.3 or a 6.7 since you do a LOT of towing, and it would probably be best if you stepped up to an F350. The F250 is capable but you're pushing your configuration to its limits...and possibly beyond.

This is not the experience we want you to have with your truck. We’d like to assist you with this concern. Could you please send us a private message with your VIN and mileage so we can look into this further?
We were on a family trip pulling a small travel trailer less than 5000 pounds. Stopped a light 2 miles from our camp site, light turns green and i start to slowly accelerate, the truck shutters/vibrates then SLAMS into gear !!!! When we get to our campsite I notced Transmission fuild leaking. My 23' F250 now sits 200 miles away at a Ford Repair shop.

***UPDATE*****
Got the truck back.... Long story short, found a leak on the Transmission Oil pan and transmission inter cooler. BOTH replaced under warranty. Drive from CC back to San Antonio uneventful...
Started the truck first thing this moring and shift "D" and hear an AWFUL WINDING noise as it shifts from 1-2-3. Back to the Service Department is goes....
I got my truck back after 40 days of being at the dealership. they replaced the whole transmission. they shimmed the rear diff. and shimmed the center carrier barring. the truck is still doing the same thing. the truck is not fixed, they said a ford engineer came out to look at it and said because i have a 900lbs bumper dog insert in the bed that is is causing the issue. which is complete bull****. since the ford engineer came out i have to take the insert out and bring the truck back to the dealership. I'm getting sick and tired of this. you buy a 50k truck and it doesn't work. they wanna charge all this money and they produce complete trash. I've been in touch with ford motor company and they said since the engineer came out i have to do what they say in order to move onto a different resolve i.e getting a buy back or new truck,

WOW ! what does having 900lbs of payload have to do with the cost of tea in China? hahahahah
It almost has 4K of payload capacity, if anything, the truck should fell more planted with that additional weight in the back.
Dropping mine off at the dealership in a couple hours, we will see how it goes......
