Just purchased a 51 F1 for a Resto/Mod and man do I have a lot of questions. First I would like to know if there are any "bolt on" IFS systems? I don't want to do any welding right now and a custom frame would break the bank
Thanks so much! I'll look into it further. Looks like it's just the cross member. Although the site appears to mention another kit with more components. I'll check the site further tomorrow.
Thanks again.
I purchased the complete chassis engineering kit. Install was straight forward. You can have chev or ford motor and power steering mounts installed on the crossmember. Then add your mustang II front end to it. Best to talk directly with chassis engineering and they will give you the pro and cons of the install in regards to motors, power steering extra. I also suggest buy the whole kit together not a part at a time. Savings are pretty good doing this and as they put the kit together you get the right parts for your application. For example if you go with the power steering option they should know to add the extension pieces as the truck is wider than a mustang or the rack will be too short.
Also there is another supplier in Florida who does a kit utilizing crown vic parts, both rear end and front end. Team 321.
Hope this helps
I did a bolt in mustang ii x-member in a Chevy a few years back. It was a good setup that used existing frame holes for some of the bolts so you knew it was lined up. The spring hats did need to be welded on. It would be inexpensive to have someone do that for you.
