Activating keyless entry on a 2013 E-350XL passenger van

i have a 2013 E-350 XL passenger van with power locks and windows. it has the red flashing security light on the dashes so I'm pretty sure it has the remote keyless entry module.

i understand i can activate this using FORScan and then add the fobs using the 8 times ignition cycle method.

can someone give me an idiots guide to what to do with FORScan please.

also, where is the remote keyless module on these vans? is it in the B pillar behind the driver's door?

i took it to the dealer and they tried to figure it out but they didn't seem to know what to do and said they didn't think it had the module. but from the research I've done it seems like all 2008+ vans have it, they just aren't activated from the factory unless you pay the extra for keyless..

Amazon Amazon
are the fobs i think i need.

any tips would be appreciated.

I'd first use FTE's VIN Decoder to see if your chassis actually has the RKE module & system installed from the factory. If its an aftermarket system you have that's a whole other situation---you'd have to know the manufacturer and model number of what's currently installed.

FORScan is an incredibly deep and complex software package which if not used correctly can create a world of problems---its dealer-level active. That's not to discourage you in this but honestly if this is all you're seeking to do I'd call around a few different dealerships and/or competent independent repair shops seeing if any of those have the capability and/or desire to assist you.

my understanding is that from about 2008 they all have the module. It just might not be active.

I have the original window sticker for the van which lists interior upgrade package and securilock anti theft system. So I believe they cover the power locks and windows.

I also know nothing aftermarket market was added. I bought the van from the original owners and they didn’t change anything. In fact I have a week by week log book of everything that was ever done to the van, from every gas fill up to every single service and inspection. It was a local charity that owned it and they had a mechanic on staff for maintenance.

From what I can find out from my research there should be just one 0 that I need to change to a 1 in the coding to activate the module.

But yes I accept your point. But short of trying dealers in other cities I’m not sure what to do as the local dealer didn’t really know what to do and gave up trying.
