New rear hatch extended lift supports to replace the blown low hanging old ones, best mod ever. Also changed the blower motor, since it never worked, and now need to check the blend door next weekend. Finally a simple oil change with Castrol Edge and removing of the bottom plastic valance piece on the bumper since its all beat up from my tires
Been running the Ex on a Diablo Sport default 87 octane tune the last couple days with the only tweak from the default tune being to the tire revs per mile to match my new BFGs. So far the rig seems to have a little more bark, especially on the freeway, but I haven't run enough mileage to get a good look at MPGs. No pinging or questionable noises (yet, at least), and shifting and such is still smooth. If nothing else, it is nice to have the speedometer reporting correctly with the new tires, as I was able to test that against a few neighborhood radar signs today
Not sure how many folks out there are running a Diablo (if any), but I will throw up updates here and there for anyone interested.
It has been a fun experiment so far, but I will eventually end up ordering a custom tune once I've had my fun
Tightened the new steering box on the '01 yesterday evening, it's not 6.0 tight, but it's WAY better than the worn out steering box that had already been tightened.
As for the '05, took her on an impromptu road trip up to the DFW area. I had just changed the oil with some Rotella T6 and talk about a smooth, quiet drive. It delivered almost 18 mpg too, would've been better had it not been for all the lengthy hills.
So the Ex took the family to see family just south of Portland (Ore.) for Easter. While at my sister's house, I took a few snapshots of the Ex.
However, while the trip was nice, the Ex had a minor issue. The whole two and a half hour trip there, the Ex was *******, just not responding the way she should. Once I got there, I started poking around and found that the charge pipe coupler coming out of the turbo had ripped
It being a Sunday, and Easter Sunday at that, there was no way to get a new one, so we trimmed off the tare, and reclamped everything down. We got home without incident. However, that tare doubled my fuel consumption for that leg of the trip.
Now I get to see if I can hunt down a new coupler today. Lucky me...
Had it towed yesturday, went to visit a buddy and got to his house, got out and saw a huge puddle of motor oil running out from under the EX. I suspect i blew a hpop line seal. It was only 1 quart low so it must have just happened before I got to his house. It already had a slow leak that I was planning to address soon but I think it took a complete dump. Had I known this could happen, I would have already addressed it.
Changed the passenger rear brake line, all is well and the Ex is headed to Ikea for some Mommy time with the wife. I kind of feel bad for it, but at least I didn't have to go!
They did not have a center opening, so a little work from a hole saw quickly fixed the access issue, and since the caps are plastic, there are no rust issues. However, the wheels are starting to pit from living here on the West Coast.
