Just some food for thought. Here are two links to excellent write-ups by our friend bismic who is our resident 6.0 guru. Some excellent reading and things to look for when purchasing a 6.0. As far as mine goes, 36k on it and no powertrain issues at all. The truck has been flawless. There have been owners out there that have had their share of problems but as was said above, maintenance is critical on these trucks. And, as was mentioned above, there are modifications you can perform that will enhance its longevity. As a sidenote, be careful when modifying a truck that's under warranty. Ford has become super strict on warranty claims so it may be worthwhile to consider this before modifying if you get a truck that still has warranty left.
