I've flown many flags in my day. In fact, I have an Amsoil flag right now that I no longer use. Anybody want it? I have Amsoil tranny fluid in my truck right now that is about to get changed. I have some Amsoi 5w-30 left in the garage that I'll likely use on the mower, tiller, and snowblower this year to use it up. My wife was the original Amsoi flag-waver and I eventually had to succumb or be overrun.

I'm no spring chicken. I've learned through the years that if somebody isn't telling you what you want to know, they may be trying to hide something. Maybe Amsoil has some of this closed-mouth stuff because of proprietary reasons, maybe some of it isn't. Some of their claims make sense, some of them don't. I've decided to move on from Amsoil because I don't believe their spiel enough any more to wave their flag for them.

But, while I've lost my glow for Amsoil, I also know that Ford/Chevy/Dodge/etc. aren't to be trusted either. How can we be sure that their specs for SP are so absolutely stringent that NO other fluid will work? Because they SAID so? Sure, they have your warranty by the short hairs, and who is going to purposely gamble their multi-thousand dollar tranny on a few bucks worth of fluid? But how can we be sure it is as dangerous as they say it is?
