I've used them for years on various vehicles. There are a couple of things to watch out for, however. The cheap hoses with push-on connectors usually supplied in the kits don't seem to hold up very well so I buy a better brand of hose and have hydraulic fittings crimped onto them, or you could go with braided stainless hose with AN fittings.

Another potential problem is the block adaptor. The cheapo kind that screws straight onto the block in place of the filter and has the hoses sticking straight out:

can seal and work okay if you get it situated just right, but sometimes you have interference problems with the hoses and need to use an adapter that brings the hoses out into a 90º

and then you can't always get the adapter tight enough and still situate it just where you want it.

However, there is another type of adapter that has a through-bolt design so that you can put the adapter where you want it and then tighten the bolt. These seem to seal the best:




Another possibility is the adapter that was used on Ford vans and V6 Rangers that turns the filter at a 90º angle. These are the simplest design, no hoses to deal with and may get the filter moved just enough for you:
