See if this helps him for the 0741...

TC5 CHECK TRANSMISSION ELECTRICAL OPERATION
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0741, P0743 indicates TCC electrical malfunction. DTC P1727, P1754 indicates CCS electrical malfunction. DTC P1788 indicates 3-2T/CCS circuit open. P1789 indicates 3-2 T/CCS circuit shorted. DTC P0746 indicates EPC solenoid malfunction. DTC P1746 indicates EPC circuit open. DTC P1747 indicates EPC circuit shorted. DTC P1749 indicates EPC solenoid failed low.

Possible causes:

Internal Transmission.
Damaged Solenoid.
Solenoid circuit open or shorted to VPWR or GND. VPWR circuit open or shorted.
Damaged PCM.
Key off.
Disconnect transmission vehicle harness connector. Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.
Connect DVOM between the VPWR pins and the suspect solenoid pin.
Scan Tool connected.
Key on, engine off.
Enter Output Test Mode. (Refer to Section 2A .)
Cycle the suspect solenoid on and off.
Does the voltmeter reading cycle?
Yes No
REFER to Service Manual, Transmission Diagnosis. GO to TC6 .

TC6 CHECK VPWR TO SOLENOID
Key off.
Transmission vehicle harness connector disconnected.
Disconnect PCM. Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, ect. Service as necessary.
Install breakout box, leave PCM disconnected.
Disconnect Scan Tool.
Key on, engine off.
Measure voltage between Test Pin 71/97 at the breakout box and chassis ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10.5 volts?
Yes No
GO to TC7 . SERVICE VPWR circuit. REMOVE breakout box. RECONNECT all components. RERUN Quick Test .

TC7 CHECK CONTINUITY OF SOLENOID VPWR AND SIGNAL HARNESS CIRCUIT
Key off.
Disconnect PCM and Scan Tool.
Breakout box installed, leave PCM disconnected.
Disconnect transmission vehicle harness connector. Inspect both ends for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.
Measure resistance between the VPWR pins at the transmission vehicle harness connector and Test Pin 71/97 at the breakout box.
Measure resistance between the suspect transmission solenoid pin at the vehicle harness connector and the same suspect Test Pin at the breakout box.
Is each resistance less than 5.0 ohms?
Yes No
GO to TC8 . SERVICE open circuit. REMOVE breakout box. RECONNECT all components. RERUN Quick Test .

TC8 CHECK SOLENOID CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER OR GROUND
Key off.
Transmission vehicle harness connector disconnected.
Breakout box installed, PCM disconnected.
Refer to table and Schematic of this Pinpoint Test.
Measure resistance between the suspect solenoid signal Test Pin and Test Pin 71/97 at the breakout box.
Measure resistance between the suspect solenoid signal Test Pin and Test Pins 51/76 and 91 at the breakout box and chassis ground.
Is each resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes No
REFER to Service Manual, Transmission Diagnosis. SERVICE short circuit. REMOVE breakout box. RECONNECT all components. RERUN Quick Test .

And this for the 0761...

TC1 CHECK TRANSMISSION ELECTRICAL OPERATION
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0731/P0781 indicates gear #1 incorrect ratio. DTC P0732/P0782 indicates gear #2 incorrect ratio. DTC P0733/P0783 indicates gear #3 incorrect ratio. DTC P0734/P0784 indicates gear #4 incorrect ratio.

DTC P0750/P0751, P1751 indicates SS1 electrical malfunction. DTC P0755/P0756/P1756 indicates SS2 electrical malfunction. DTC P0760/P0761/P1761 indicates SS3 electrical malfunction.

Possible causes:

Internal Transmission.
Damaged solenoid.
Solenoid circuit open or shorted to VPWR or GND.
VPWR circuit open or shorted.
PCM damaged.
Key off.
Disconnect transmission vehicle harness connector. Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.
Connect DVOM between the VPWR pin and the suspect solenoid pin at the transmission vehicle harness connector.
Perform KOEO Self-Test.
Does voltmeter reading cycle?
Yes No
REFER to Service Manual, Transmission Diagnosis. GO to TC2 .

TC2 CHECK VPWR TO SOLENOID
Key off.
Transmission vehicle harness connector disconnected.
