He may not sell the cab either, and if he does, you still need to do something about the title. We have had threads about this before on here, and there is no good easy way to use that cab in whole without the title. It does afterall have the VIN on the tag at the windshield. It also has it on the door jamb sticker.

So none of those numbers will match the truck you build. Red flag there if you go to sell.

Moving the tags around is a big no-no also. One, you can't do it without it being obvious, and two, it's really against the law. I am not talking about taking emissions off a truck and getting caught and not getting a sticker. I am talking felony auto theft. Thank your local auto thieves for making this harder than it has to be.

A lot of these junkyard guys get a call, go pickup abandoned cars out of people's yards, don't ask questions and don't get receipts or a bill of sale. He probably doesn't have a title to that truck, and doesn't want it taken out of his yard where it could be exposed by you trying to search the title and getting one for it. Who knows what the story is behind that truck.
