Hmmm... you know if it really is just the input bearing it's not
all that hard to change out, just takes time and a place to
work on it.
Was just talking to my new neighbor his dad died he was the
one that owned a transmission shop. His brother runs it now
and he worked in it too.
He just got done telling me... They tried doing manuals, but
there was no money in it. Parts were cheap but there's way
too much labor/time in a one-up manual rebuild compared to
what the rebuilding-disassembly/assembly-lines can do it for.
So the trick is to buy one of those and turn yours in?
Or better IMO, do it yourself. :)
Many on FTE have and so can you if you want to bad enough. :)

ps- I've done it lots of different ways using helpers and boards
and bricks etc but this one's got 'em all whipped for a one-guy
operation with no pressure and/or time limits...
I now use a cheap engine hoist...

The rear chain should be behind the rear drain plug, I started
to take the chain off when switched;)gears and took a picture...
