Hello everyone,

My '97 F250 is needing a new H-pipe and cat because the flange has rotted.

Unfortunately, the h-pipe for my truck (351w/5.8L) seems to be a dealer-only item.

4.10 gears will definitely help you in the mountains. You should be turning 2100rpm at 65mph with a .70:1 over drive.

I replaced both the front mounts on the rear springs. A word to the wise- remove the mounts with an air chisel before you try to drive out the rivets. Makes the job 400% easier (3 hrs vs 12hrs). I...

I use autolite copper core in my 351.

Platinum plugs are more of a gimmick. Ford put them in the newer V8s. They do last long; however, that causes the owner to never change them.

Then one...

You can replace the pulley, but if you have a good deal of miles on it, you'll want to replace the tensioner.

The stem of the tensioner will eventually go bad, and the pulley will start angling...

Whistling noise

Well,

My wife's '05 Escape has a whistling noise that occurs when you load the engine at part throttle and above.

I can't reproduce it (yet) when the car is in my driveway.

I do hear a...

I just had to have the transmission in my wife's '05 Escape rebuilt. Only 92k miles. The torque converter let go.

After $2000 dollars, it is back on the road.

The guy who rebuilt the...

It is not weird at all. I used to be a splicer for the telco. Once that copper was exposed to salt and water, it doesn't take much to corrode those thin wires.

Once you moved the wire...
