If I had to do it over again I would skip the SX and get the straight valve. I don't have any experience with the straight valves, looking at the design it should drain the oil faster than the SX...

For what it's worth, I fill the oil filter with oil until it can not hold anymore then add 12 quarts to the engine. This results in a perfect oil level just below the upper hash mark reading.
