The facet pump is good, I pull power from the FSS circuit directly since the pump is fused at 3A.

I've used some in coolant systems to avoid messing with soft plugs in bad places. However I doubt I would ever submit my engine bearings to stuff designed to plug things up.

The clunk you hear when turning the key to start is most likely the solenoid activating. I'd say starter swap is a good move.
