Thank you, that looks like a similar part. I just didn't understand the function my 64 shop manual doesn't cover auto trans and I haven't had an auto trans since my 55 crown victoria I owned in 1968

Don't give up right away, I've seen new pumps do that. Sometimes it takes a few heat cycles for the seal to soften up and conform to the shaft..

If it's for the Drivers side you may be missing the insert for the temp sending unit. Passenger side will have a freeze plug. The insert presses in and is available from after market suppliers.
