If it starts fine above 50, no pumping of gas, etc, I would put a choke on it. If it takes a while to start above 50, I would say the carb is draining down.

Without looking at it I would probably pull the engine separate from the transmission as long as you can access the bell bolts; otherwise, consider pulling front clip from the truck.
