Check some of the transmission parts sites to identify the tranny. Then check applications. If it was used on your year truck the OEM manual for your year will have service info.

The DUI hooked directly to the battery will drain it. Many automotive batteries will fail just as you describe when drained completely. Sounds like you need to rewire and replace the battery.

Your service manual should list that information. If you don't have one get one. It is the FIRST thing you should buy for your truck.
