Thanks guys. I think I was premature on chasing an ignition switch problem. I think I just have a poorly tuned engine right now. Will pull plugs, check compression, and if all looks ok, replace...

1980 cuts out when put in gear

1980, 351M, C6 auto.

Owned truck for 10 days, so little history on it, so bear with me.

It'll start and idle what I consider pretty well. Every time (except once) I drop it into R from P, or D...

351M Part Identification

I picked up an '80 Bronco with a 5.8L in it last week. I'm new to this whole scene but my guess is that it is a 351M.

I've attached a picture with a circled part on the back of the engine. I...

My front main seal leaked enough to soak the belt and make a mess of the hood (even the outside had a fine oil mist). Regulator is right next to the seal so you can poke around down there and see...

It looks like you have a good high pressure oil leak since you never build more than 500 ICP and IPR goes to 85. I don't have an 03 but suspect areas would be the pump itself and verifying IPR...

Probably because your 32" tires werent 32" exactly and your 35s probably aren't exactly 35 either. I ran 315/70/17s which is a 35 equivalent on my first half ton and they measured more like 34.5" at...

You may be thinking it revs higher because the TC is compensating for the tire size. Going to 4.10 will put your engine back in its powerband so the TC won't have to slip as much. But that's a lot...

I'm probably repeating what you know but installing a numerically higher gear ratio will give you higher RPMs at any given gear and speed combination relative to 3.73s. Moving to 4.10s will help...

What are you towing? Doesn't seem super heavy if you can maintain 200 F water temp at 60F.

i wonder if you need a chemical flush to remove traces of Ford Gold. Reports are that it doesn't play...

If memory serves, most of the caps are 1/8" NPT. To remove the cap you'll either have to disconnect the hose/sender at the cap or somewhere else and snake the hose around the bay while removing the...

Thanks for feedback. I tightened boots till I was comfortable by hand, then went back with wrench and was surprised I was only pulling 45 in-lbs, and hence the reason for posting. I went up to 75...

I haven't seen any good numbers for cold IPR values. 23% hot would generally be OK from what I recall.

my understanding is the ICP is reporting real pressure. If you unplug it, the computer...
