If it's for the Drivers side you may be missing the insert for the temp sending unit. Passenger side will have a freeze plug. The insert presses in and is available from after market suppliers.

If you aren't going to reuse them why not cut the coil?
I need new fronts also but the only listing I can find...

Maybe loosen or remove the nuts that hold the U bolts for the axle/springs so the lower mounting plate will drop down? If not planning on reusing I would use a Hot wrench LOL.

I've never seen coils on front shocks for these trucks but I guess anything is possible. Did you jack up the truck by the frame so the springs and shocks are fully extended?
