High Mileage Oil......Hype or not?

Thanks, Rusty. A new engine doesn't come in a can. I have a 1998 Ranger that is just starting to blow a blue cloud when started. I figure bad stem seals.

High Mileage Oil......Hype or not?

It's been about a year since most of the lube manufacturers released their lines of "High Mileage" motor oils.
Has anybody tried these oils?
What did you think of them?
Is it all B.S. or did you...

95 XLT Blower Motor Confused...

Hey Gang! I just bought a 95 XLT 2.3L, 5 spd, 2WD.
Nice little red truck to serve as a back-up for my 98 XLT.
Anyway, the blower motor is acting funny. In any cooling cycle (haven't checked heat,...

1998 Ranger transmission/drive train

Possibly the drive shaft is out of balance and/or bent?
Has it done any rough climbing? You didn't mention 2WD or 4 WD so I'm assuming 2WD.
Maybe bad u-joints?
I'd get under there and check for...

Shift Knob came off

Two wraps of scotch tape around the splined shaft and JAMMED the knob back on. It's been there for a year.

Next time it comes off I'm grabbing a spare 2" trailer hitch ball and the...

Crunched Bumper...Disable Air Bag?

Hey Gang,
I kissed a guard-rail with my '98 XLT a while back and bent the front bumper (low speed impact, no air bags deployed). Got the old one off, bought a new one along with a valance and corner...

3rd gear grind

Treb:

Had the same problem with my '98 2.5L 5 speed. Scraped on the two-three shift unless I let motor RPM run down and then eased it in. Only happened when the trans was hot, after 20 or 30 miles...

Eight Spark Plugs!

You are correct, sir! They switched it back to a 4 plug I THINK in 2000, I may be wrong. But the '98 and '99 2.5's were 4 cylinder, 8 spark plug models.

Spark Plugs

I agree with Ken00 about the MotorCraft Double Platinums. Fortunately they last about 100,000 miles, so you don't have to buy them often.
I usually pull of the throttle body and upper intake...

Check with U-Haul to find out the GVW on their small trailers. The 4x6's and 4x8's should be towable with your truck. They have a...
