Good that it's working, heat is good when ya need it. I was surprised at the difference in heater output between a 180 and 195 deg. thermostat. If you want good heat install a 195.

Modern fuels are rough on carburetor parts. Supposedly modern import fuel pumps are notorious for high pressure. This should be checked. If it checks out OK check float height/fuel height in the carb...

It's a judgment call, one thing lower vibration...

It's a judgment call, one thing lower vibration levels do, components wear less/last longer. Things like bearings. Also less tendency for oil leaks.

Believe it or not, in the automotive environment motor oil is probably a bigger fire hazard than fuel, or can be. Fuel often evaporates right away, thankfully. Oil won't, and it burns for a long time...

Valve spring seat pressure (closed) actually has more to do with preventing the valve from bouncing excessively when closing. But higher seat pressures go hand in hand with higher lift spring...

Does this engine utilize the load-o-matic type distributor? These need to work just right, coupled with the OEM type...

Should be able to run just about whatever you want. I like to run a "top oil" like Marvel's in the fuel to help keep valves and rings from sticking. Collector cars and trucks that don't get driven...
