hi, i want to put in dual straight pipe exhaust with no cat but 8inch cherry bomb glass pack, but was wondering if there is an air care/ smog sensor connected to the cat, im not really sure i just heard that some were, thanks

Just make sure you keep the O2 sensor. There shouldn't be anything else to worry about.

I had to weld a bung on the header summit racing sells them fairly cheap.
|
If you use long tube headers , just weld a bung in the passenger side collector , any exhaust shop can do it , or with shorties just put it the pass side pipe....Lew

thanks so much for the help, but do any of you know if hooker has those bungs pre-welded on?
|
I don't know most don't...
|
i was looking on summit for hooker headers and i found out i can buy a reducer that has the o2 sensor built in

isnt it best to place the o2 sensor in a small crossover pipe between the collectors ?

If your running LTs or a custom midpipe the its fine on the passenger side pipe. |
I still think the both pipes need to share the 02. If it only reads off of one side, I would think it would tell the computer that its running lean since its only reading half the exhaust.
|
The o2 is going to have the same reading if its reading one side or both , if you use an H pipe its ussally to far back to get a good reading , the passenger side collector is the best place for the o2 , i run mine this way with no problems , so does Conanski & a ton of other guys on this fourm , this is with LT headers & custom exhaust....Lew

well.....i think that it would be ok at best to read off of one side.......but the more info the computer has the better it runs is my thinking....
if the right side combined runs at say 14.5:1, thats not the same, or even close to a ratio of 14.68:1 combined off all 8 cylinders..... in the whole number values, a % is a %....if you have a gallon of water with 10% blue dye added, and you split that into two half gallons, each half gallon is still 10% blue dye, your just measuring half of the total instead of the entire amount..... but i think the measure would be a lot more accurate measuring the entire gallon.... my exhaust has a small crossover just big enough for the sensor between the down pipes right before the cat location |
