Look's a lot better than mine...congrats!

Looks like a pretty good buy to me. Since its a 302, I would not put big tires on it. The 302 does not make alot of low end torque, so I would not go bigger than 31 10.50. What gears in the rear?

What are you going to run for mufflers on the duals? Do you want loud, medium, or mellow?

AntiHero55 09-23-2010 07:11 PM

i have decided to run 33x12.5x15s with MT classic 2s.....

and the muffler is gonna be flowmaster 40 series....

TexasGuy001 09-24-2010 12:45 AM

If you are going with 33s then I suggest you go with at least 4.10 gears.

I have to ask, why Blowmaster?

court1100f 09-24-2010 01:10 AM

lol Whats wrong with Flowmaster??? I'm planning on putting one on my 1990 F150 2wd Ext Cab lol. And yeah in stock form the 302 doesn't have alot of torque off idle BUT if he throws a crank in it and makes it a 348Cid Stroker it will have Torque to spare

court1100f 09-24-2010 01:11 AM

Looks like it's a pretty Truck!!!! and appears to be in better shape than mine by a long shot Congrats indeed

AntiHero55 09-24-2010 06:42 AM

my cousin is running 37s on his 95 f150 with stock gears so i think i should be fine with 33s...

i like the way flowmasters sound....my dad has them on his 03 f150 and i like it alot...

court1100f 09-24-2010 06:58 AM

I'm with ya on the Flowmasters Justin. Although my 1987 and 1990 won't come close to sounding as good as your 302 V8 Since it's infact a 300Cid Straight 6 BUT I like the sound of a 300 Straight 6 with no muffler so I suspect with a flowmaster it will sound just as good if not better ;)

TexasGuy, is right,
I did have 33x12.5x15's on my 4x4. My Auto E4OD shifted in & out of OD too much . I reset the PSOM to help that , but turning anywhere near tight sucked , If you have an Auto Tranny & use 33's you should re-set your PSOM . The 33's would work much better with a 5 speed and it still would need a lift kit for it not to rub on turning . And as you probably know, Big Sneakers look good , but they are hard on the Front suspension.
For me it was not worth the Cost of what would need to be done " tires, lift kit, gears, wear on ball joints ,rod ends, shocks ".
So, I went to31x10.5's and set the PSOM to a 9.18 conversion constant. That works fine for me

Just my 2cents. But it is your ride to do what you want with it.

Here is my 92 Nite 4x4 ext.cab with 33's. They did rub when turning..

Whats wrong with Flowmaster is a chambered muffler and gives a hollow tin can sound is horrible and drones inside the cab. A straight through muffler is better. The reason so many people have it, is because most muffler shops push it on people. Its also known as Slowmaster, Blowmaster, Dronemaster etc. There are many better mufflers. Flows are over rated. They sound exagerated and make it sound like you have more motor that you actually do. The other thing that really bothers me about them is that are annoying at idle and cruising speed, but as the engine revs out they actually get quieter. I would go with almost any muffler besides them. Sorry for the rant, but there are so many better options.
